I was a little hesitant when this book was chosen for bookclub, as Pride and Prejudice is my favourite book. But with our 'no book refused' policy in mind, and even though I couldn't attend the meeting, I ordered it for my kindle before I left.
Overall impression was 'Really, what was the point of that?'. I think given a couple of hours I could have put the few zombie references that there were in the story line. In saying that though, I enjoyed it, as it was almost like rereading Austen's P and P.
I was a little disappointed, and consider that there were lots of missed opportunities to transform more of the story line. I won't ruin the plotline, but did enjoy the demise of one of my least favourite characters :)
I did enjoy the 'book discussion' questions at the back of the book though. Nothing like taking the piss of one of the greatest works of English literature...
Not sure how I'll go reading the next two... neither are available on Kindle, and not sure how I'll go finding an english bookshop.... I'll get to them sooner or later.
I'm now reading Inheritance, by Nicholas Shakespeare. If only he wrote as well...
