Ross has wanted to come to Cannes the whole time we've been in France. Back before he was born his dad worked as a deckhand on a yacht belonging to a very rich man, and spent a lot of time at the Port there.
It was another 35 degree day and we were lucky enough to find a parking spot about 5m from the ocean and 4km from the main part of town. It's nice to go to the beach and take your whole house with you – fridge and all.
Waiting conveniently until the hottest part of the day we rode our bikes around to the Port. Cannes was even more impressive than Saint Tropez – bigger boats, and being more easily accessible by car, it's fair share of the upper end of the market.
The boats got bigger the further into the Port you got, and it really is unfathomable for me to comprehend the amount of money you must have to have to own them. One was a small cruise liner, complete with a hot tub on the fourth floor deck – what a life!
Lots of Aussie and Kiwi accents from the deckhands, too – seems not a lot has changed :)
