Ruccerball

I'm pretty convinced that three boys travelling with a frisbee, a soccer ball, and a rugby ball are never going to be bored. I've seen them invent several games now – in carparks, on the beach, in caravan parks – you name it. But the most entertaining to date has definitely been ruccerball.

The campsite we stayed at for the Grand Depart had a smallish sized astroturf soccer/basketball court. The boys had a rugby ball with them. The obvious result......Ru(gby)(So)ccer(Basket)Ball.

The rules are simple(ish)....

Two players, each with a soccer-sized goal to defend, and each with a half of the court to play. The aim of the game being to throw the rugby ball (in any way you like) into the goal for 1 point. For 2 points, you have to get it through the basketball hoop. If you send the ball out -2 points. You play the ball from where you first touch it. If the ball rebounds back into your half, you get another go. If the ball lands on the line (and this did happen) it's first to it.

As I'm sure you can imagine, the game was taken very seriously. There were a number of 2 point shots by Graham, and George lost an early lead with a couple of out-of-bounds balls. George ended up taking out the match (after a short ¾ time break) 10-6.

It was an intense game, I'm sure it'll take off.
