Feeling hot, hot, hot

We've had a couple of days in Valencia now – the first day we spent most of the time at the beach or the pool. Except the hours between 3pm and 5pm when it's siesta. Can you imagine being the lifeguard who has to kick all of the kids out of the pool at 3pm? The hottest part of the day? Insane!

Ross had been looking forward to bringing me to Valencia for paella since he had been here last, and I wasn't disappointed! After a couple of pre-dinner drinks we found a nice-looking place with mussels, seafood paella and sangria – yum! I didn't really eat mussels before coming on this trip, and I plan on making up for that (so long as I don't think about it too much, or I gross myself out).

We paid a visit to the City of Arts and Sciences – that place is wiggety whack, but amazing. It's built in the old riverbed, with lots of lovely green space around the sides. These giant shapes form the aquarium, science museum, opera house, and a planetarium, among other things.

We hit the town on Saturday night – dinner around 11pm and then to Music Box for some dancing. I liked that they served drinks in glasses the size of your head. Especially seeing as though there was no water supply running to the toilets. I'm sure there was once, it just wasn't working on Saturday night at 1am. I told one of the bar tenders and he said “Yes, we know” and kept serving. Spain?! We hadn't really been out since we left Australia, so it was fun to get dressed up and and a bit drunkety. Was nice to know that while we were drinking and dancing the night away our friends were running 14kms in the City to Surf! Well done guys, great effort :)
